Ark Limited, Istanbul
Ark Limited was founded in 1995 as an architectural design, design&build and consulting firm. In 1997 an agreement aimed at co-operation in design services as well as local supervision of construction was signed with Bernard Engle Architects & Planners – later to become TP Bennett and Ark Limited began to represent the London-based firm regionally. The design project for Marks & Spencer Bilkent Store in Ankara was the first project completed under the auspices of this agreement.
By the year 2000 the experience in managing the projects of corporate clients had lead Ark Limited to offer its services in design and implementation to several clients of different sizes and with very specific priorities.
Marks& Spencer, British Airways and ABN Amro have been among the corporate clients of Ark Limited. The 6750m2 fit-out of the ABN Amro Headquarters in Istanbul, the construction of the British Airways Lounge within the new Istanbul Ataturk Airport International Terminal, the relocation of the British Airways Town Office in 2005 and the refurbishment of the British Airways Lounge in 2008 have been milestones in the company’s development.
Several design projects have also been completed including schools, offices and residences. A school and dormitory complex, a public library refurbishment and a government office building in Siberia, Russian Federation stand out as international projects which were built. An environmentally sensitive residential complex proposal for Doha, Qatar was also produced .
Ark Limited has also completed restoration and fit-out of historic structures. Several historic timber houses of Istanbul have been saved from destruction thanks to careful restorations following UNESCO guidelines.
